Download the app
Get the desktop and mobile apps from https://joplinapp.org/download/:
- Windows / macOS / Linux — installers and portable builds.
- Android — Google Play or F-Droid.
- iOS — App Store.
Configure sync with Authentik SSO
Save your open notes first!
Joplin's SSO flow opens a browser to authenticate, then returns a code you must paste back into Joplin. Save any open note edits in Joplin before clicking the SSO button — switching focus while editing can lose unsaved changes.
- Open Joplin → Tools → Options → Synchronisation (mobile: ☰ → Configuration → Synchronisation).
- Synchronisation target: Joplin Server.
- Joplin Server URL:
https://joplin.deepinthesand.com - Click Login with SSO. A browser opens to Authentik.
- Sign in (complete 2FA if prompted). You'll be shown an authorisation code.
- Save any open notes in Joplin first, then paste the code into Joplin's prompt.
- Click Synchronise. First sync may take a few minutes.
End-to-end encryption (recommended)
Tools → Options → Encryption → Enable encryption and set a master password. Save this password in Vaultwarden. After this, the server only sees encrypted blobs — even Ammo cannot read your notes.
Web Clipper
Install the Joplin Web Clipper browser extension to save articles to your notebooks (desktop Joplin must be running, or use the mobile share sheet).
